I feel extremely lucky to be at the school I'm at and to be with the students and faculty that I am with. My highlight has definitely been getting to know the teachers, students, and fellow auxs at my school. Some of my favorite moments have been being able to have candid conversations with those around me here. The settings that have best facilitated this have been school field trips.
The photo was taken at Zarzalejo, a small village where we took the first and second grade students on a hike in October. The day could not have been more beautiful and I had a blast just laughing and talking and enjoying the day with teachers, parents, and students who had come along for the hike.
The photo above is from another field trip I was lucky enough to go on to Real Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial with the 6th grade students. We spent the morning touring the monastery and learning all about its history. However, the tour was in Spanish and as far as the students know, I didn't understand anything. It was really endearing and made me really happy when some of them tried to translate for me and were worried that I didn't understand. The students really have kind hearts!
